Pranayama is defined as control (yama) over the life force (prana). In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali emphasized the importance of using our breath to control our life force. When we acquire such control through certain breathing practices, we can prepare our body and mind for meditation and go deeper in meditation. Not only that, but great sages have taught that ultimately we can attain the breathless state through Pranayama.
In this class, you will learn some of the techniques taught at the Advanced Pranayama training offered at The Expanding Light Meditation Retreat in Nevada City, CA. After learning the techniques, you will have an opportunity to test them out in sadhana. After the meditation, there will be time for discussion and questions.
Prerequisite: This class is open to anyone who has taken Kriya initiation at least 6 months prior to the start of the class.
